Barbara Mitchen Crouch, 81 of Huddleston, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at her residence. She was born on Friday, April 7, 1933 in Bedford Co., VA, a son of the late Fred Latham Mitchen and Essie Howell Mitchen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Elmo Crouch, 2 brothers, Lloyd A. Mitchen and Curtis B. Mitchen, 2 sisters, Norene Mitchell and Genevie Dellis. She was a retired secretary at Butlington Industries. Surviving are her son, Buddy Crouch of Huddleston, 2 sisters, Collie Lee Johnson of Huddleston, Carolyn Goin of Grand Praire, TX, 2 brothers Kentwood Mitchen, Willis Mitchen, brother-in- law, Billy L. Crouch, a special friend, Mary E. Diehl, all of Huddleston and many nieces and nephews,. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider The American Cancer Society 2050 Langhorne Rd. Suite 201 Lynchburg VA 24501. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 am at Palestine Church Cemetery with Rev. Jackie Carver officiating. Friends may call after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
