Obituary of Gracie Martin Wright

Gracie Martin Wright, 97 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015. She was born March 22, 1917 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Sandy J. Martin and Okie Lynch Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alphonso "Al" Wright; her sons-in-law, William A. Lacy and Larry G. Fifer; her daughter-in-law, Easter K. Wright; her sisters, Silver Craft and Goldie Gray; her brothers, Sam, Sonny, Woodrow, Calvin, Mack and Ballard Martin and her granddaughters, Jessica Wright, Patsy Witt and Laura Cox. Gracie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by two sons, Edward Wright and Jimmy Wright; two daughters, Linda Lacy and Shirley Fifer; four sisters, Christine Martin, Dorothy Moore, Betty Owen and Lyla Witt; six grandchildren, Debra Johnson, Kim Smith, Randy Lacy, Jimmy Lacy, Matthew Fifer and Steven Wright; nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make memorials to Bedford Lifesaving Crew, P. O. Box 161, Bedford, VA 24523. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
