James Edgar Cole, 87 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. He was born on Sunday, December 4, 1927 in Montgomery Co., a son of the late Oliver Edgar Cole and Tressie Akers Cole. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Pauline Altizer Cole, a sister, Mayron Cole and two brothers, Kenneth & Cecil Cole.
He was retired from Sam Moore Furniture.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela C. Hammack & husband, Roger of Bedford; his grandson, Stephen Hammack; and a sister, Christine Wood of Christiansburg.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford at 2:00 pm with Rev. William Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday after 11 AM and the family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 5 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
